Static Frequency Converter at FPSOBUK

Dear Readers,


After a long pause, I came back to the blogging with one of my project title for this year...:). Actually, I have many others task than this project. However, this project looks like always in the spotlight of management...probably due to its high capital cost. Spending day by days of my working hours for this project makes me neglected another task as Electrical Maintenance Engineer for beloved ABU, Penara & North Lukut platforms. Sometimes, I am quite sad because I am spending too much time for Bunga Kertas, not for my own location at either ABU or Penara or North Lukut. After thinking in totality, whatever it is, it still company investment money that I have ownership to take care.


At the beginning of handling this project, I acted like a passenger or co-pilot, follow the flow. But one day, my FOM, En KZ came to my workstation, having a small chit chat on the project. He said I need to be more proactive in driving this project. His remarks made me realized that I need to do something.....but I still did not do too much, still dependent to other people to drive it. The good thing about it probably, I took proactive action by raising RTS and went to Bunga Kertas for collecting data for Power System & Protection Relay Coordination study. These two studies should be done at the beginning of the project.....not now. Currently, project is in hook-up stage. But what we can do, these two studies have been overlooked by previous team. Thus, we have did reverse engineering part...:). Alhamdulillah, those studies have been completed in last August 2014.


Due to some organization restructure, our asset need to bid farewell to our Asset Head and FOM...it was quite sad occasion for us..:(. I only worked for previous Asset Head & FOM for less than 1 year, but I learnt a lot from both of them.


At the same time, we welcomed our new asset head. New Asset Head is having quite same character with my previous FOM (simple & straight forward person). Probably, because both of them being a boss at very young age. In one occasion, he asked me to attend a meeting in KL during the time I did not want to attend (because it just 2 hours meeting & I need to use evening flight KLIA-Kuantan to go back to Kertih if I attend that meeting...hihi. I was thinking our partner in KL could be our reps). He did not force me to go....but he explained the importance for our company to have reps in that meeting. Realizing on the importance fact after more than 15 minutes discussion with him & my senior, I agreed to attend that meeting because understood the urgency & we did not want to be the stumble block that delay the project.


I always has the attitude of thinking my job less importance than other, probably because I have the mindset whatever production related is important, non-production related is no. 2 priority. However, I think my boss thinks all tasks under his asset are equally important especially if it is about SFC project. One day, I contacted him through whatsapps that I would like to meet him once he has free time for some SFC project discussion. He immediately replied that he was in a meeting, did my issue importance? I replied that my issue is less importance..:). He replied back, let us discuss now & he would like to drop by at my colleague (another project team member) for this discussion. Very positive attitude showed by him. I seldom met boss like him (btw, my previous boss in Miri also like him...:)). Makes me shift paradigm that we have option to do something as per what we want....we are not the follower of flow. Dare to be different than other if the different creates values (Berani untuk jadi berbeza dari orang lain jika sikap itu creates values)

Another thing I learnt in these few days was just highlight the important key things to team members...:). Do not overload their mind with so much info. Before this, I was the person that would like to cc all items to all team members...hihi. This thing probably only applicable to this project because the project come to the end, many team members have been changed & sometimes issue that I brought out is not really relevant to all. As example, I would like to send materials to KSB, I have cc that emailed to all....hrmm...probably better to cc to key personnel only. If rajin, boleh la update status shj to all once everything done smoothly. I don't need to update all problems that have been faced to all, but it good for me to solve it upfront with relevant parties & once solved....update the success to all. 

Ok....that all for tonight. Pray for our success ya...we plan to commission by this 16th Dec.

Electrical safety....mencabar jgk tajuk ni

Salam,
 Walaupun mencabar, sy dh closed acd topic ni. Now, my boss asked me to present on this topic to the rest of my colleagues.....huarghhh.

I would like to present as per Ain presentation way which is divide into 3 situation such as design, maintenance & troubleshooting....hrmmm how to divide safety on that 3 subtopics. Probably, i can the story by design an electrical switchgear kt offshore.......what are the competecy of manpower needed, PETI guidelines, PTW.

Saya lantik diri saya sendiri jadi tok ketua (project engineer)

Salam,
This is the most funny task i have handled so far. No nomination and direction from bosses, no official handover & project history briefed. The key personnel keep silent and do not have feeling that they should drive the project. I am dragged into this complicated project. It is complicated not due to technical engineering difficulty but due to the behaviour of key personnel in the team. Ego, ignorant, difficult to reach.....that what i feel. No wonder after so many years, it still doesnt completed.

I should not be the tok ketua (project engineer). It should be from the other side to be project engineer who drive the project. However, I cannot have patient on too slow project progress that lead to long payback time to the company. Thus, i have tokk action to be more proactive although i am not entitled to do it.

Problem at work

I just wondering on what is the impact if people doesnt perform his/her role. Hrmm....i just think that situation is weird since we are in a team, everyone in the team should support each other. Or elsewhere I am over proactive....:) Sometimes, i feel i would like to keep silent & let those things past over. However, I can let it like that....

Behaviour owh behaviour. It is within yourself whether u would like to care on other teammates.....or just be an ignorant person.

It is the first time I am facing this weird situation,people does not interested to response and do not excited to complete their task...i am really against this attitude..hmm...however, everyone has their own strategy, probably people who doesnt response is the one that has different stream as compared to myself. Thus, i think i just be patient....try to complete those tasks with my way of managing thing...learnt along the way. m

Tap changer plak yg pening

As per title, tap changer plak yg sy masih pening....if kita turunkn tap, voltage makin turun or makin naik???.....errr...tk tahu nk jawab. If awk jd design engineer,mcm mn awk nk decide transformer kt plant awk guna on load atau off load tap changer??? Awk tk blh sesuka hati nk design tau....

Hehe...two points to ponder. Soklan ni tkde la payah sgt if kita phm electrical concept.

Baru fhm konsep circuit breaker

As per title,acd tahun ni sy baru fhm concept circuit breaker iaitu moving contact and fixed contact diletakn dlm satu medium spt air, oil, vacuum. Medium ni akn memastikn arc yg terhasil dari overcurrent or short circuit will be distinguished. cara nk distinguished arc tu depends kpd medium. If air, akn ada arc chute utk suppress the arc from high energy to low energy. If vacuum, dia akn halang arc tu dari muncul....haha. if oil, arc akn menyebabkn oil tu panas....jd ada mekanisme yg akn tukar oil tu jd oil lain yg sejuk. Btw, sy dh terrer kira short circuit rating guna MVA method tpassesor tk tnye plak

Apapun masalah kita, kita perlu bangkit!

Saya ingin mengambil sepotong ayat Quran sebagai sandaran terhadap setiap ujian yang melanda diri kita.




Apakah manusia mengira bahawa mereka akan dibiarkan mengatakan: Kami telah beriman, sedang mereka belum diuji?"

Ujian & tingkat keimanan berkait rapat. Selagi kita tidak diuji, kita tidak akan tahu setakat mana tahap kemampuan kita untuk menghadapi ujian itu.


Ujian mungkin boleh menjadikan diri kita bercelaru, murung & banyak berfikir. Begitulah saya, disaat saya diuji dengan pelbagai ujian seperti masalah dengan rumah yang baru dibeli, masalah dengan pemaju, masalah di tempat kerja dsb. Jadual rutin seharian terganggu, banyak tugas2 seharian diabaikan seperti lupa memberi ibu saya makan ubat ikut jadual, sering terlewat sampai di pejabat, rumah bersepah2 sebab tiada mood nk kemas rumah. Setelah segalanya berlaku....saya istighfar panjang atas kekhilafan saya yang tidak mampu menghadapi ujian baru2 ni dengan baik. Berfikir dan bermuhasabah.....akhirnya saya cuba menghadapi kekurangan rumah yang baru dibeli dengan sabar sambil berusaha mendapatkan hak saya melalui surat aduan kpd pemaju....mungkin kalau tidak berkesan saya akan adukan kpd tribunal perumahan. Saya juga cuba mengemas dan menyusun atur apa yang boleh saya susun di rumah ini supaya ianya kelihatan kemas & barang2 murah diambil. Saya merancang untuk membaikinya sedikit demi sedikit jika pemaju tknk baiki seperti atap, longkang, bathroom & dapur.




It is more to do in life.....masa untuk bangkit!Setiap kali kita rasa hopeless, jangan lupa Allah sentiasa ada bersama kita.
